Local Bookkeeper Receives Top Honours
For the first time in the history of the Canadian Bookkeepers Association (CBA), a recipient of the CBA Bookkeeping Excellence Award (Female category) has won it for a second time.
Sudbury bookkeeper Gloria Ann Curwin, the 2006 winner, was awarded the honour again at this year’s annual Canadian Bookkeepers Association (CBA) conference, held recently at Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville in Toronto.
The CBA Bookkeeping Excellence 2009 Award is a Canada-wide distinction voted on by the entire Canadian Bookkeepers Association membership. It is presented each year to the CBA member who has demonstrated exemplary bookkeeping knowledge and best practices.
A member of the Canadian Bookkeepers Association since 2003, Gloria Ann Curwin appreciates the recognition and respect of her peers. “Winning this type of award is an honour. Winning it twice is extremely gratifying. It is national recognition from other bookkeepers that my knowledge is respected coast-to-coast.”
Gloria Ann Curwin had been looking forward to the various seminars and business networking opportunities offered at this annual week-long CBA conference. She did not expect her business efforts to be so publicly acknowledged. “When I see the expertise that’s out there and realize the people who have that expertise have voted for me a second time, it is truly overwhelming.”
In addition to this award, Gloria Ann Curwin was bestowed with Registered Professional Bookkeeper (RPB) designation in recognition of her contribution as one of a team of three professionals chosen to create the exam. Designed to test working knowledge of bookkeeping rules and regulations, the exam was recently administered for the first time to members from across Canada.
