BPW Greater Sudbury Recognizes Cindy Bertolo, Manager Of Residential Services For The Salvation Army Cedar Place, Sudbury.
Cindy Bertolo is in her 10th year at the Cedar Place, which is run by the Salvation Army. The Cedar Place is a shelter for homeless women and their children. A shelter that provides support to women and their children, a vital and critical service that is deeply needed in our community. Many of the women and children who attend Cedar Place call this shelter their home. Cindy has shared that there is rarely a bed that is empty at night. Many of the women and children who frequent the shelter can be people who have been evicted from their homes because they cannot keep up with the cost of hydro, gas, and telephone. Other women and children are fleeing abusive relationships and desperately need a safe and supportive place where they can begin a new journey in their lives.
Cindy dedicates her time to helping to support women and children who are in need in our community, and she is always seeking ways to help grow the shelter and find support modalities. Cindy’s dedication and commitment to helping people in need is one that is commendable and admirable.
BPW Sudbury’s President, Carol Stahl commented; “We want to recognize the strong women who sometimes go unrecognized for their continuous dedication to helping people in our community. Without women like Cindy, many people in our community would continue to suffer. We are proud of Cindy and want her to know how valuable her work is.”
