BPW Greater Sudbury recognizes Anne Salter-Dorland for her continued commitment to supporting disadvantaged children in our community.
As the Executive Director of the Sudbury Manitoulin Children’s Foundation (SMCF) for the past 25 years, Anne has been committed to operating programs, securing funding, and executing fundraising events, all to support children in our community. In 1984, “Send-A-Kid-To-Camp” program was created to enable disadvantaged children between the ages of 5-14 who reside within the Sudbury and Manitoulin districts to experience an opportunity away from their challenging situations. This program, which is 100% funded by generous donations has served more than 16,000 children since it was founded. Thanks to the amazing and dedicated work of Anne and the SMCF’s Board of Directors, the SMCF continues to serve children in need within our community by fostering partnerships with more than 50 local social agencies and 35 existing camps to ensure that the program operates effectively. Anne was also instrumental in the creation of SMCF’s Bursary Program. The Bursary Program provides financial assistance for crown wards hoping to pursue a post-secondary education.
Carol Stahl President of BPW Sudbury commented, “Anne’s work is beyond notable and BPW Greater Sudbury is honored to be able to recognize her for her continued dedication to helping children in our community, because without people like Anne, many children would not have access to life changing opportunities such as those offered through the SMCF’s programs.”
BPW Greater Sudbury awards monthly recognition to women within the community who demonstrate outstanding leadership skills and are committed to supporting our community.
